65 Div & 591 Bde Commemorate Their Its Anniversaries

Troops of the 65 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi celebrated their 8th anniversary on Thursday (15) under the guidance of Major General W. A. S Weerawadena, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 65 Division.

To begin with the day’s programme, the GOC planted a tree sapling in the 65 Division Headquarters premises.

An all ranks tea party was held after a troop address was delivered by the GOC.

During the troop address, the GOC paid his tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives and admired the services of his troops for dedication and commitment.

In the meantime, troops of the 591 Brigade in the 59 Division of the Security Force Headquarters- Mullaittivu celebrated their its 9th anniversary with a series of events during 12-14 December at Mullaittivu on the directions of Colonel, W.S.B Nayakarathna, Brigade Commander, 591 Brigade.

The 591 Brigade troops began their anniversary celebrations with a series of multi religious ceremonies held at various places of worship, including a special ‘Boodhi Pooja’ ceremony at the camp premises Tuesday (13) evening.

A Guard Turnout was accorded by the troops of the 23 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) to the 591 Brigade Commander on Tuesday (13) at the entrance to the Brigade Headquarters as a military formality.

Thereafter, ‘Baobab’ tree sapling was planted in the 591 Brigade premises, as a part of the programme.

On the same day, a troop address followed by an all rank lunch and tea took place in the Brigade Headquarters.

The 9th anniversary ceremonies concluded with a grand musical show Wednesday (14) evening.
