64 Division Welcomes British Envoy on Tour to the North

Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission in Sri Lanka, Mr Tom Burn during a recent visit to the North, together with a few more envoys called at Oddusudan-based 64 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).

Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division after extending a warm welcome to the delegation briefly explained them the roles and tasks, being performed by the troops for the greater benefit of the community in the area.

They also focused on continuing development projects in the area and efforts, being made by the troops for enhancement of reconciliation and ethnic harmony. The visiting British envoy also inquired into the security aspect in the area.

Group Captain Frazer Nicholson, Defence Attaché of the British High Commission for Sri Lanka and India and another senior member of the British High Commission in Colombo were also present during the occasion.

Towards the end of the interactive meeting, the visiting envoy left a few lines in the Visitors’ Book at the 64 Division Headquarters. Brigadier Jayaweera presented a memento to the envoy as a gesture of goodwill.
