Renovation of the road patch between Thadiyamalai to Muthiyankaddu in the general area of Mullaittivu began on Friday (11) with the participation of 6 Field Engineers, 643 Brigade and 13 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops under command to the 64 Division of the SFHQ_MLT. The project started on Friday (11).
The inauguration of the construction process was headed by Major General Manjula Karunarathna, General Officer Commanding 64 Division, together with Brigadier K.T.P De Silva, Commander 643 Brigade and few senior officers of the area as per directions of Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu.
Field Engineer troops would use motor graders, dump trucks for repairs while 13 SLNG troops would offer tractors & manpower.
Civilians in the area also gave their maximum assistance for the construction no sooner than the work started.
