Troops of the 64 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of the most recent holy ‘Maha Shivarathri’ day contributed to the successful conduct of the sacred festival at Oddusudan Shivam Kovil in Mullaittivu.
Army assistance to this meritorious act was extended in response to a request, made by the clergy at the temple where 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 64 Division troops set up a parabolic shed for the convenience of devotees who flocked to the premises for offerings.
In addition, Senior Officers in close consultation with temple authorities facilitated the visit of those devotees to the premises by supporting different other arrangements in this connection.
General Officer Commanding (GOC), 64 Division, Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera took the initiative in this regard with the blessings of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu.
This gesture of goodwill and reconciliation of the 64 Division afterwards received commendation of the priests and the trustee of the temple since arrangements provided comfortable stay during the offerings on Tuesday (13).
