Concerned about the difficulties, being faced by poor civilians in the general area of Oddusudan, 64 Division HQ troops launched a charity project to distribute a large stock of vegetable packs among the worst-affected on Sunday (16) on an initiative taken by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 64 Division, Major General Manjula Karunaratha.
Those varieties of vegetables, received from some wholesale traders at the request of the GOC included potatoes, spinach, drum sticks, onions, pumpkin, cucumber, snakegourd, leafy ones, etc were distributed among needy families during this project.
Several Senior Officers in the 64 Division also joined the project with Other Ranks for distribution.
