622 Brigade with Lions Club Sponsorship Constructs Teachers’ Quarters

The 622 Brigade troops of the 62 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni at the request of the Attanagalla Lions Club gave their support for the completion of the partly-built Teachers’ Quarters at Helambewewa Primary School in the general area of Padaviya.

Following guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Commander, 622 Brigade Colonel Enoj Herath after sponsorship was extended by the Lions Club at Attanagalla undertook the project of completing the construction of the Teachers’ Quarters which remained partly built and unattended for some time.

9 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 622 Brigade a few days ago organized the inaugural opening of the new building under the supervision of the 9 GR, Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Munasinghe.

Together with the District Governor of the Lions Club, Colonel Nissanka Kandanarachchi, Commander, 621 Brigade at the invitation of the 622 Brigade Commander took part in the warming ceremony and handed over keys of the new building symbolically to a representative gathering of teachers of the school.

The second half of the ceremony saw 50 school children and 46 parents of those students respectively receive school accessories and dry rations on the same inaugural occasion. Each of those packs of school accessories was worth about Rs 3500/= and contained exercise books, pencils, pens, instrument boxes, drawing books and stationeries.

Similarly, each dry ration pack given to 46 civilians was worth about Rs 3000/= and both donations were sponsored by the same Lions Club.
