In order to enhance mutual understanding and sound relationship between the soldiers and the civilians in the area, the 622 Brigade of the 62 Division in Helambawewa in Padaviya - Parakramapura held a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival at the 622 Brigade Headquarters premises on Saturday (7).
Festivities included both Sinhala and Tamil traditional games and many more fun-making events which entertained the villagers in the area as well as the soldiers serving the 622 Brigade and under command Battalions.
Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Colonel Saliya Amunugama, Brigade Commander, 622 Brigade who was the organizer of the event.
A large number of members of the public and other senior officers were present during the festivities.
