621 Brigade at Welioya launched a school equipment donation programme for underprivileged students in the D5 Primary School at Wahalkada on Friday (4) under the close supervision of Major General J.M.U.D Jayasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division.
130 plus students in the school (Grade 1-5) were the beneficiaries of these donations which included pairs of shoes, name embroidered school bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, books, papers, other stationery and required cleaning essentials.
The donations were sponsored by the Chairman of Sigiri Group in Negombo. 7 members of the donor group attended the event. Major General J.M.U.D Jayasinghe, GOC, 62 Division, 621 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officers of 14 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 17 Sri Lanka National Guards also joined the venue where parents, teachers and students were also present.
Meanwhile, the day prior to the donation on Thursday (3), a Shramadana campaign was conducted by the troops and parents. Meals and refreshments for the project were provided by the troops.Buy Sneakers | Nike
