A dry ration donation programme was jointly conducted by troops of the 621 Brigade and 14 Sri Lanka Light Infantry serving under the 62 Division of the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni on Friday (16) as per directions of Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division.
The programme, meant to help most deserving segment of society, largely affected by COVID-19 pandemic got underway at the Office of the Medical Officer of Health in Padaviya.
The project, organized by 621 Brigade troops saw pregnant women of low-income families suffering due to loss of their daily income receive those relief packs.
A group of donors, including Mr Jaliya Bodinagoda, Mrs Jayathri Bodinagoda, Miss M Senadeera, Mrs S Abeyrathna, Mr Supun de Silva, Mrs Eshani de Silva and Mrs Pradeepa Jayathilake provided financial assistance for purchase of those essentials, adequate for 50 nutrient packs.
The Commander 621 Brigade, Brigadier Keerthi Parakum and Civil Affairs Officer 621 Brigade, Second in Commanding 14 Sri Lanka light Infantry, Dr Chandana Devapriya, Chief Midwife Ms Nirosha and troops participated in the distribution programme.
