As one more community-oriented project of the Army, 9 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops in the 612 Brigade Headquarters offered their technical know-how and repaired all defunct ceiling fans in the Sampathnuwara Vidyalaya in the Welioya Divisional Secretariat.

Due to lack of resources, the school could not spend money for repairs and all of them were gathering rust and dust when the matter was brought to the notice of the troops in the area.
In the same spirit, 9 Gajaba Regiment troops serving Kiriibbanwewa area in the Welioya Divisional Secretariat offered help in renovating a dilapidated 20 x 20 class room of Kiriibbanwewa Vidyalaya. It cost Rs. 43096.00 and repairs were conducted on the instructions of 622 Brigade Commander. Meanwhile, 9 (V) SLLI troops carried out plastering work of the Dharmashala (preaching hall) at Monarawewa Temple in the Mullaittivu District.

Similarly, 152 school students in the Kokkutuduvai Grama Seva Division in the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat received school accessories and held an Art Exhibition, thanks to sponsorships provided by Beautiful Mind Company, Homron Pastel, Coca Cola and Nestle.
