Brigadier Samantha Silva assumed duties as the 8th General Officer Commanding in the 62 Infantry Division amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the headquarters in Galkulama on Monday (31).
The newly-appointed GOC of the 62 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by all Brigade Commanders and staff officers and honored in a Guard Turnout presented by troops of the 20th Battalion Gajaba Regiment. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory. Later on, he placed his signature in the first official document to mark his assuming of duties, amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' in the presence of senor officers. He also addressed all rankers on the same occasion.
