62 Division Troops Show Hospitality to Pilgrims on ‘Pada Yathra’

20 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops serving the 622 Infantry Brigade of the 62 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni provided cooked food, drinking water, medical assistance and also temporary shelters for Hindu devotees participating in the ‘Pada Yathra’ (foot pilgrimage) to Kataragama when they reached Pulmodai on 16 May.

Those devotees, expecting to participate in the forthcoming Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devala festival in the South every year undertake this foot pilgrimage from the Jaffna peninsula.

With the blessings of the General Officer Commanding of the 62 Infantry Division and the Brigade Commander of the 622 Infantry Brigade, troops under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, 20 GR organized this charity work.
