Troops of 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 62 Division of the Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) coordinated the distribution of 30 packs of dry rations to Weheratenna villagers.
They were donated by Dr. H.S Ranasinghe from Paradeniya Hospital, Dr. S.P Wickramaga, Lecturer from University of Rajarata and the retired Dr. A.W Ranasingha. It took place at the 26 SLSR headquarters premises on Tuesday (8).
Each dry ration pack consisted of 10 kgs of rice, 1kg of dhal, 1 kg of sugar, packets of tea, packets of washing powder, baby soaps, pens, exercise books and three towels. Each pack cost nearly Rs 1500.00.
The donors, Civil Affairs Officer, 62 Division, Commanding Officer (CO), 26 SLSR and members of the general public witnessed the distribution.
