The inter Division Football Championship - 2023 of the Security Force HQ- Wanni (SFHQ -Wanni) got underway at the 54 Infantry Division Playground in Mannar from Feb 08 to Mar 10. 07 teams of all formations vied for the trophy.
Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SF-Wanni graced the awarding ceremony and watched the final tussle as the Chief Guest on Friday (10) and was warmly welcomed by Major General Nalinda Niyangoda, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 54 Infantry Division.
56 Infantry Division and 62 Infantry Division teams competed with each other in the finals. 62 Infantry Division team players after a dominating encounter secured the victory 4 -0 goals claiming the Championship for the year 2023.
Towards the end, the Commander, SF-Wanni and other Senior Officers joined the awarding ceremony for winners in all categories and the winning teams.
Major General Manjula Kariyawasam, GOC 56 Infantry Division, Major General Janaka Ranasinghe, GOC 62 Infantry Division, Major General Prasad Edirisinghe, GOC 65 Infantry Division, Major General Priyantha Weerasinghe, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North Central, Senior Officers, and Other Ranks were present at the final awarding ceremony.

Championship - 62 Infantry Division team
Runners-up - 56 Infantry Division team
Best Player - Lance Corporal S.S.D Hettiarachchi - 62 Infantry Division team
Best Goal Keeper - Lance Corporal R.M.S Rathnayake - 62 Infantry Division team
