613 Brigade Troops Convert Hospital Wards to Serve as Emergency Intermediate Care Centres

613 Brigade troops of the 61 Division HQ at the request of medical authorities in Weligama Base Hospital converted three wards of the hospital to be used as Intermediate Care Centers for treatment of COVID-19 patients in the event of any increase of patients in future.

On the instructions of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division and through close coordination of Colonel Upul Kodithuwakku, Commander, 613 Brigade carried out the project and converted the three wards to be Intermediate Care Centers for Covid-19 patients in keeping with the government's emergency project in the event of any mass scale admissions. Similar conversions were also made earlier in Kamburupitiya and Karandeniya hospitals in order to prepare for any emergencies.
