A New Year festival followed by a vibrant musical show, backed by 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) beat group, entertained the villagers of Kidachuri as well as the soldiers serving 611 Brigade on Sunday (7) at the Kidachuri Karuweppankulam school ground.
The day’s event, an attempt to further promote harmony and peaceful coexistence among all communities in the North, was organized under the supervision of Colonel M. P. Lamahewa, Brigade Commander 611 Brigade on the instructions of Brigadier D. M. W. W. W. M. R. B. M. Daulagala, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division.
Prominence was given to both Sinhala and Hindu cultural events while a large number of Tamil Songs were sung to entertain the public. All those who were present, including the villagers were provided with lunch by the organizers.
General Officers Commanding, 61 Division and 56 Division and many other senior officers were present at the event.
