The 15th anniversary of the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-West was celebrated during 29-30 May 2023 at the HQ premises in Boossa. The two-day event saw a range of activities including a cricket tournament, organized at the HQ playground with the participation of five teams.
Troops also organized a special lunch treat for 12 adults residing at Sarvodaya ‘Suwasetha Elders’ Home in Hikkaduwa, a meritorious act which reflects the selfless and compassionate nature of the troops.
On the anniversary day (30 May), a Guard Turnout saluted the General Officer Commanding, Major General H. M. U. Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc. This was followed by the planting of a tree sapling in the premises as a token of remembrance. Afterwards, the General Officer Commanding addressed all the troops and thanked them for their unwavering dedication and commitment to duty.
An All Rank lunch the same afternoon brought the day’s anniversary programme to an end.
