61 Division's ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Pooja’ Benefits Students of Army & Civil Families

Coincident with the 14th National War Heroes’ Day as well as the 15th Anniversary of the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-West, troops organized a distribution of school accessories for students in the families of Other Ranks and Civil Staff serving under the 61 Infantry Division, named ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Pooja 2023’.

Accordingly, 270 students of Other Ranks and Civil Staff received those school aid packs, each worth Rs. 3750.00 on Tuesday (May 23) during a ceremony at the 61 Infantry Division HQ premises in Boosa.

The kind patronage and collaboration of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’ and the Old Boys’ Association of Royal College, Colombo together with Past Pupils of the University of Jayawardenapura enabled the students to receive those incentives through the coordination of Mr Prabath Loku Balasuriya, Chief Organizer of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’.

The project was initiated under the guidance of Major General H.M.U Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 61 Infantry Division with the support of those donors.

The GOC of the 61 Infantry Division, together with Mr Prabath Loku Balasuriya, Chief Organizer of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’, Members of the Old Boys’ Association of Royal College, Colombo and Past Pupils of the University of Jayawardenapura attended the duistribution as special guests. Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Civil Staff and beneficiaries were present during the event.

Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, Commander, Security Forces - West has extended his blessings to the project.
