61 Division Troops Launch a Beach Cleaning Campaign in Hikkaduwa

Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division hand in hand with members of the Hotel Owners Association in Hikkaduwa directed his Division. troops to launch a beach cleaning campaign with battalion troops, tourists, environmentalists and all stakeholders in an attempt to encourage tourism industry in the Hikkaduwa area on Thursday (17) morning hours.

The campaign was conducted with the participation of 50 troops of 14 (V) Sri Lanka Gemunu Watch. Colonel Indika Jayaweera, Brigade Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel G H A I Wijerathne, Commanding Officer of 14 (V) Sri Lanka Gemunu Watch closely supervised and guided the troops.
