61 Div Troops Construct New ‘Awasage’ at Kappina

The residential quarters of the monks ‘Awasage’ at Kappina Walauwwa Seemamalaka Viharaya, built by Army troops following a request made to the Commander of the Army was vested in the members of the Maha Sangha on Saturday (6) in parallel with the ‘Katina Cheevara Pooja’ of the temple.

Representing Major General Dammi Hewage, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, 613 Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer 14 (V) Gemunu Watch took part in the inauguration ceremony where the newly-built ‘Awasage’ was entrusted to the custodianship of the monks according to religious traditions and observances.

The temple was without a proper residential building for monks and the Chief Incumbent sought the manpower assistance of the troops to complete the erection of this new accommodation facility.
