169 water pumping machines, 2 sewing machines, financial grants to 81 families for agricultural and animal husbandry, gift parcels of nutrients to children, sponsored by the Alliance Development Trust, worth a few millions, were among the latest incentives that were distributed among needy resettled farmers, women and school children in Manthai East area on Wednesday (03) during a special ceremony, held at Pandiankulam school.
The initiative in this connection was taken by Brigadier A Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding 61 Division with the support of the 612 Brigade Commander and the 61 Division Civil Affairs Officer.
In addition to those items, 50 school children at Vinayagapuram school in the Vinayagapuram Grama Seva Division were gifted dry ration parcels to the value of Rs 3 lakhs in total. On the same occasion, 81 people planning to start self-employment projects in the area received Rs 25,000/= each from the same donor organization.
On the same occasion, 2 tube wells out of 7 planned and still under construction for the benefit of civilians were vested in the villagers of Purawasakulam and Eruvil after a brief meeting.
Meanwhile, Mr Ismo Salerio, Provincial Director of the Alliance Development Trust, has taken steps to build a children’s park for students at Pandiankulam school. Several equipment and accessories in this regard have already been brought to the school complex.
