One officer and 30 Other Ranks of the 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the 141 Infantry Brigade under the 14 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ- West lent their assistance on Sunday (23 July) to prepare a garden containing rare and medicinal herbs in an area of about 06 acres of land at Wataddara Ganekanda Sri Sumanarama Purana Temple, Veyangoda following a request, made by the chief incumbent of the temple.
Army personnel worked tirelessly and cleared the land of wild bushes and creepers, prepared soil beds, planted new rare medicinal herbs, and put up the necessary infrastructure for the garden to flourish.
The Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 6 Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery closely supervised the project with the blessings of the West Commander. The herbal garden remained covered with wild bushes and creepers for a long time until the project was undertaken by the troops.
