593 Brigade troops who threw their full weight behind decisive Wanni Humanitarian Operations several years ago are now serving Mullaittivu Nayaru Lagoon area which is surrounded by dense jungles.
However, absence of a Forward Dressing Station (FDS) on the camp compound compelled the troops to travel a long distance in case of any emergency treatment or casualty.
Following initiatives taken by Brigadier A.M.R Dharmasiri, Commander 593 Brigade Headquarters, the troops using local raw materials put up a new FDS within a matter of two months and opened it for service.
Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu as the Chief Guest on May 19 declared open the new FDS at the invitation of the 593 Brigade Commander. Brigadier G.R.H. Dias, General Officer Commanding 59 Division, senior officers and a gathering of other ranks graced the brief opening ceremony.
