Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of the festive season and the just-concluded Christmas launched elaborate projects in their area of responsibility during the past week.
Troops of the 59 Division and the 591 Brigade hours before the dawn of Christmas on December 24 gave away a stock of 1050 gift parcels among children who were attending the X’mas mass at Mullaittivu Church and the children living in and around Mullaittivu town.
Similarly, over 500 devotees attending the X’mas services at Sellwapuram St Jude’s Church were served milk coffee as refreshments after erecting a special X’mas tree in the church premises. At the same place, five Santa Claus, organized by the troops of 23 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) went on distributing some 985 gift parcels among the children in the area and those attending church services.
Likewise, 24 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops entertained all church-goers in Alampil area to milk coffee refreshments after erecting a X’mas tree at Alampil St Anthony’s church.
Those five Santa Claus aboard a special decorated float, toured the area and distributed a stock of 1087 gift parcels among 1087 children in Alampil area during December 24 and 25.
Meanwhile, 5 (V) SLSR troops gifted 70 school children in Arumuttukulam village with school accessories and gift parcels on account of the festive season. In addition, two atlases and one magnet board were presented to the Arumuttukulam Vidyalayam as part of their humanitarian assistance to low-income groups.
