59 and 64 Infantry Divisions organized a New Year Festival for Residents at Mulliawalai

Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the 59 and 64 Infantry Divisions organized a traditional New Year Festival on 07 April 2024 at Diamond Sports Club Ground Mulliawalai, with a large crowd in attendance.

The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The festival featured traditional aesthetic events and various games such as cycle races for males and females, marathons, the selection of the New Year prince and princesses, grease pole climbing, tug of war, pillow fights, and other traditional fun activities. Winners received gifts and trophies from the chief guest and special invitees.

The evening culminated in a musical show, featuring performances by Karuna with Sarigama music band and other artists. The event was supervised by the General Officer Commanding of the 64 and 59 Infantry Divisions, with participation of Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
