Troops at the 583 Brigade in the 58 Division serving under the Security Force Headquarters – West (SFHQ-West) together with 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) organized an Eye Clinic on the instructions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-West for underprivileged people in Aranayake area in Kegalle District on Wednesday (16) at Madiliya Rajamaha Viharaya at Helmadagama.
A total of 207 patients received Rs. 186,300/= worth spectacles during the clinic and medical treatment was provided free-of-charge to all attendees.
Dr. Nimal Wijekoon, an Eye specialist at the Mahanuwara Opticals (Pvt) Ltd conducted the clinic together with his staff.
Major General K.C. Goonawardane, Commander, 58 Division together with Brigadier Randula Hathangoda, Commander, 583 Brigade and the Chief Incumbent at Malidiya Rajamaha Viharaya, Ven. Illukgoda Gnananda, government officials, several Army and Police officers were associated with the event.
