58 Division's New GOC Takes over Duties

Brigadier Rohitha Aluvihare assumed duties as the 17th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Division on Tuesday (4) during a simple ceremony at the Divisional Headquarters in Puttalam. He succeeds Major General Champaka Ranasingha who has now been appointed the Commander security Forces Wanni.

At the outset, the incoming GOC reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by 9 VIR troops on arrival at the Headquarters premises. The GOC was welcomed by the Colonel General Staff and all senior officers in the 58 Division. Amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith' of Buddhist monks, the new GOC left his signature in an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office.

In line with formalities, the new GOC planted a sapling prior to the troop address where he expressed his vision during his address.

Senior officers and Other Ranks attended the event by adhering to health guidelines. Brigadier Rohitha Aluvihare, prior to this new appointment served as the Commandant Army Training School Ampara.
