58 Division Troops on 'Vesak' Day Remembers Fallen War Hero

58 Infantry Division HQ troops on Vesak Day (05 May) organized a series of meritorious deeds on account of 'Vesak' festival and in memory of a fallen War Hero, Major Sepala Dahanayake who served in the Special Forces Regiment while performing his duties in 3 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment during the humanitarian operations in the north and the east before May 2009.

Mrs Sara Yapa, the mother of the fallen war hero, joining the commemorative project at first set free a cow, set for butchery through the coordination of the 58 Infantry Division troops. Afterwards, a group of Maha Sangha invited to the camp were offered alms where all troops were blessed and merits transferred. As dusk fell, a Bodhi Pooja was held at the 'Abhayarama' Viharaya in Puttalam after a new statue of the Buddha was taken in procession and offered to the Abhayarama Viharaya.

Major General W.T.W.G Ihalage RWP RSP psc, General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division switched on the illuminations and unveiled 'Vesak' lanterns and decorations, put up in the camp compound by All Ranks. All arragements were streamlined and prepared as per guidelines given by the GOC, 58 Infantry Division.
