The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, Brigadier Priyanka Fernando made his field visit to the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT ) in Gampola on Monday (16 ) in order to receive an update on its mandate and operations.
The day’s Chief Guest was cordially welcomed to the venue by Colonel Susantha Amarakoon, Commandant SLACDRT before a briefing on the Centre's role and tasks was conducted by the Commandant and the Chief Instructor in the Life-Saving Wing Major Saman Dharmarathne, along with the Chief Instructor of the Disaster Response Wing, Major Menaka Gunarathne. Afterwards, the visiting 58 Division GOC addressed the troops and extended his greetings.
The day's visiting GOC afterwards went round the SLACDRT premises and the Field Training Area near Kotmale Reservoir.
A fellow-lunch for Officers at the Officers’ Mess afterwards brought the day’s event to end where the all Officers had the chance of interacting with Brigadier Priyanka Fernando.
