A Disaster Response Exercise, intended to give a wider exposure to the troops serving Kilinochchi areas, vulnerable to possible climatic disasters and floods, was launched by 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard troops serving under the 572 Brigade HQ of the SFHQ-Mullaittivu.
Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division together with Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Commander, 572 Brigade initiated the two-day long (28-29 October) Exercise covering flood prone areas in the 572 Brigade area.
During the Exercise, troops rehearsed their readiness to take any flood threats or any other natural disasters, search and rescue team operations, involvement of community support, supply of immediate relief and medical assistance, etc.
