The 57 Infantry Division in Kilinochchi celebrated its 16th anniversary amidst religious observances and military formalities under the guidance of Major General Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Infantry Division during Feb 24-26.
Prior to the anniversary day, troops organized a Dhamma preaching session on Friday (24), followed by an alms-giving for 16 members of the Maha Sangha on Saturday (25) at the camp premises.
Commencing the military formalities on the anniversary day (26), the GOC was warmly welcomed by the Divisional Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance.
Afterwards, a ceremonial parade saluted the day’s protagonist before All Ranks sat for a fellow-lunch. Brigade Commanders under command to the 57 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the series of events.
