With sponsorship, provided by Mas Holdings, Kilinochchi and the Association of the Blind in Wanni, the 57 Division Headquarters coinciding with the recent World’s White Cane Day (Oct 15), had organized a simple ceremony to distribute white canes among the blind in the 57 Division area of responsibility.
Mr Ali Ashkar, Manager, Kilinochchi Mas Holdings and the Secretary of the Association of the Blind in Wanni, together with the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division as the Chief Guest, gave away those walking symbols to 50 visually handicapped civilians.
At the same occasion, the visitors inquired into their other needs and provided them with refreshments in a friendly atmosphere.
