562 Infantry Brigade troops of the 56 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Wanni with the aim of helping the sick and the poor in Ichchankulam, Vavuniya area held a mobile medical camp at Thausiyakulam Government School premises on 24 June in coordination with the office of the Regional Directorate of Health Services (RDHS) in Vavuniya.
A gathering of more than 200 civilians of all walks of life received treatment and consultations for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), laboratory testing, scanning and dental issues. Meanwhile, people were educated at the same occasion on the importance of preventive healthcare practices, personal hygiene and maintaining mental well-being.
Dr M. Mahendran Regional Director of Health Service Vavuniya, Dr Nilakshan, Director at Vavuniya Hospital and more than 25 doctors and medical staff manned the medical camp and provided necessary guidance to the attendees.
Troops of the 562 Infantry Brigade provided their maximum support for the success of the medical campaign under the guidance of Major General H.G.P.M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG, General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division and Brigadier J.M.A Jayasekara RSP USP, Commander, 562 Infantry Brigade.
