The 14th anniversary of the 561 Infantry Brigade was celebrated on 07 December 2023 at its Headquarters premises in Kanakarayankulam under the guidance of Brigadier K.M.G Bandaranayake USP psc, Commander, 561 Infantry Brigade.
As a part of anniversary celebrations, a volleyball and a cricket tournament were organized at the headquarters playground with the participation of four teams. The tournament was a great opportunity for the troops to showcase their sporting prowess and also served as a platform for them to bond together over a shared liking for the game.
In addition to that, a blood donation campaign was conducted in coordination with the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. More than 125 donors participated in this event. Further, a ceremony of religious blessings was conducted in Kanakarayankulam Sri Sambuddha Rajamaha Viharaya and Kanakarayankulam Pullayar Kovil.
The day commenced with a Guard Turnout extended to Brigade Commander, Brigadier K.M.G Bandaranayake USP psc on arrival. This was followed by the planting of a sapling in the premises as a token of remembrance.
Afterwards, the Brigade Commander participated in an All Rank lunch after he addressed all the troops and appreciated them for their unwavering dedication and commitment to duty. Finally, a musical programme and a dinner in the evening brought the anniversary commemoration to culmination refreshing the minds of All Ranks.
