The 12 (Volunteer) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under the 56 Infantry Division, coordinated a medical camp with the aim of assisting vision-impaired people on 09 June 2024 at Kakiyankulam Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Vavuniya.
This program is scheduled under two stages with the generous contribution of the Secretary of Assist Renaissance and Resettlement Organization, Dr. Velayudam Sarveshwaran.
290 vision-impaired people were selected under first stage for eye checkups and donating of spectacles. During the second stage, 52 patients were selected for cataract surgeries.
The program was launched under the directions and guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc with the coordination of Commander, 562 Infantry Brigade Brigadier T.M.S.J Tennakoon RSP and Commanding Officer of 12 (Volunteer) VIR Major B.G.R Gamlathge RWP RSP.
The General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Staff of Assist Renaissance and Resettlement Organization, the Colonel Coordinating of 56 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
