Troops of 56 Infantry Division organized a spectacles distribution programme to assist visually impaired people in Puttur and Vavuniya at “A” Company area of 16 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and Rajendrakulam Maha Vidyalaya on 10 July 2024.
As the result of series of eye clinics conducted at both areas, 310 visually impaired patients were identified and directed to the programme to recieve spectacles.
The troops of 56 Infantry Division further provided refreshments for all the attendees of the programme.
The programme was launched with the generous contribution of Alaka and Ananda foundations established in Malaysia through Dr. V. Sarveswaran, the Secretary of Assist Resettlement and Renaissance Organization.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division.
General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Commander, 561 Infantry Brigade,Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Staff of Assist to Rehabilitation and Resettlement Organization and residents in the area participated in the programme.
