The 56 Infantry Division, in collaboration with the Assists Resettlement and Renaissance organization and the Alaka Foundation, conducted a programme to distribute spectacles to the general public in Panrikethakulam on 16 October 2024.
This initiative was carried out under the direction of Major General S. Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, and the guidance of Brigadier Y.M.S.C.B Jayathilake RSP USP, Commander of the 563 Infantry Brigade.
The organizational support was provided by the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, with the generous contribution of Dr. Velayudham Sarveswaran, Secretary of the Assists Resettlement and Renaissance.
The programme was aimed at improving the quality of life for the local community and accordingly 131 visually impaired individuals benifited under the programme.
