Troops of the 56 Infantry Division bid farewell to the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), 56 Infantry Division, Major General H.G.P.M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG during a formal military ceremony held on 12 February 2024 at 56 Infantry Division premises.
Upon arrival, the troops of the Division accorded the outgoing GOC a Guard Turnout in conformity with military traditions. Subsequently, the troops accorded a Guard of Honour, adding dignity and recognition to the occasion.
Afterwards, the outgoing GOC posed for group photographs with all Officers. While addressing the troops, he extended his gratitude for the support extended to him during his tenure. Deputy General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks were present during the event.
