Major General Pooraka Seneviratne assumed office as the 19th General Officer Commanding of the 56 Division in Kokeliya on Thursday (20).
During a brief ceremony, held at the Headquarters 56 Division, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 56 Division took over his duties amid religious observances and blessings. He succeeded Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya.
On his arrival, he was greeted to a Guard Turnout before a parade honoured him inside the 56 Division HQ premises. Later, he left his signature in a formal document and marked the assumption of duties before joining to plant a sapling in the camp premises. Then, he addressed the troops under the 56 Division and laid the foundation to commence the construction of Crops of Engineer Services (CES) and Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) workshops inside the camp premises.
An all rank tea arrangement culminated the day's proceedings.
561 and 563 Brigade Commanders along with Commanding Officers of under command Battalions, Senior Officers, Officers and a large number of Other Ranks at the Headquarters 56 Division participated in the programme.Buy Kicks | NIKE AIR HUARACHE
