Troops of the 56 Division along with its under command Brigades and Battalions of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) had their Inter Division Badminton Tournament - 2018 held at the 56 Division indoor stadium on Wednesday (6).
56 Division initiated the tournament under the guidance of its General Officer Commanding Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya and under the close supervision of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, comradeship, determination, courage and discipline among all workmates.
Formations under command to the SFHQ-W, 21, 54, 56, 61 and 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) battled for the championship, held during 2-5 June 2018.
The tournaments conclusion brought a hard-fought impressive victory to the 56 Division team after a nail-biting battle against 62 Division which was placed as the Runners up.
The certificate awarding closing ceremony was graced by the General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and a large number of Other Ranks.
