55 Infantry Division troops marked the sacred ‘Poson’ Poya Day by serving free buns and tea to more than 1500 civilians around the Kaddaikadu area in the Jaffna peninsula on Saturday (3).
Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division initiated the project with the support of All Ranks in the 55 Infantry Division.
On the same day, Venerable Ingiriye Dhammalankara Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Kilinochchi Temple, conducted a Dharma preaching sermon and invoked blessing on the troops serving in the Jaffna peninsula. 553 Infantry Brigade troops took the lead in organizing it.
Meanwhile, troops of the 12 (V) Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment held a ‘Dansela’ of biscuits and soft drinks for about 1500 civilians, who travelled along the A 09 road via Iyakkachchi.
