While further expanding its community-oriented services further, the Security Force HQ-Jaffna to be in line with the Army Chief's concept of building homes for the needy on Saturday (11) began initial work to erect a new house for a family in Nelliady area.
Financial contribution to the project is to be provided by Mr Kumara Weerasooriya, a well-known philanthropist and social worker and 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 551 Brigade have undertaken its construction providing much-needed manpower and technical expertise under the close supervision of Lieutenant Colonel S. Dasanayake.
The foundation stone for the construction of this house to Mrs Selvasannadi Darshani of Imayanan, Nelliady was laid by Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe, Commander, 551 Brigade adhering to all Covid-19 prevention protocols in the presence of family members of the beneficiary. Major General Jagath Kodituwakku, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the 55 Division's GOC have given the green light for the project.
To be in parallel with the inauguration of the project, 100 packs of dry rations, sponsored by the same donor were distributed among needy families in Imayanan area in Vasavilan just after the foundation -stone was laid.
