55 Infantry Division’s New GOC Assumed Office

Major General B.G.S Fernando USP Hdmc psc assumed duties as the 28th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55 Infantry Division in a brief ceremony held at the Division Headquarters in Kilinochchi on 22 November 2024. The event commenced with welcoming the GOC by the Brigade Commanders, and Staff Officers, following a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honor.

Having attended the multi-religious observances, the Senior Officer officially signed a document and planted a sapling on the Division premises as a symbolic gesture to mark the duty assumption.

Later, the newly-appointed GOC in line with military formalities addressed all Officers and Other Ranks. The event concluded with an All-Ranks tea.

Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, and Other Ranks of the 55 Infantry Division attended the formalities.
