Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc of Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division on Thursday (17 August 2023) at his office in the Divisional Headquarters office in Kilinochchi.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance before he was invited to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by 14 Sri Lanka National Guard troops.
In his new office, the incoming GOC symbolically placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of duties. Afterwards, he sat for several group photographs with officers and Other Ranks.
Subsequently, he was invited to plant a sapling inside the camp premises before he addressed the Officers and Other Ranks. Refreshments with All Ranks brought the day’s proceedings to an end.
