The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division, Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc paid his maiden visit to the 553 Infantry Brigade at Visuvamadu on Tuesday (05 Sep).
The GOC began his visit by inspecting various sections under the 553 Infantry Brigade followed by a visit to 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalions. The visiting GOC was warmly welcomed by the Commander 553 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier B.G.S.K Perera RSP after he was greeted listener a Guard Turnout at the entrance.
Afterwards, he listened to a comprehensive briefing on the Brigade, its area of responsibility and functions. Addressing the troops, he expressed his gratitude for their unwavering dedication to duty and appreciated the efforts made by the troops in elevating the standards of their respective battalions.
Adding memories to the day, he posed for a few group photographs and planted a sapling in the premises. Further, the GOC interacted with the troops during an All-Rank tea arrangement. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s agenda.
