542 Brigade Troops Together with Sampath Bank Offers Bank Accounts to Mannar Children

Troops of the 542 Infantry Brigade under the 54 Infantry Division with the objective of promoting the habit of money-saving among students organized a programme to offer bank accounts, tills and school aids among 140 school students in Musali Divisional Secretariat area on Thursday (7 Sept).

During the event, 140 students of the Kulankulam Government’s Tamil Mixed School and Paleikulai Government’s Muslim Mixed School, each received a sum of Rs 2000/= in a bank account, together with tills and school aids during arrangements at respective schools.

542 Infantry Brigade troops with the patronage of Sampath Bank conducted the programme. In addition, 140 mango saplings were also planted in those school compounds to coincide with the day’s programme.

On the instructions of the Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade, Colonel T.L.M Chandrasekara RWP psc, the event was coordinated by the Civil Affairs Officer, 542 Infantry Brigade, Major M.V Fernando with the cooperation of 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops.

The Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade graced the events as the Chief Guest, together with the Divisional Secretary, Regional Education Director, Chief Manager of Sampath Bank, Regional Manager of Sampath Bank and the staff at the Sampath Bank. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the event.
