Troops of the 54 Infantry Division in Mannar under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni organized a 'Poson' Zone in Thallady, Mannar on Poson Poya Day (3).
The Poson Zone comprised a ‘Bath Dansela’, Mihintala replica, colourful lanterns and a devotional song (Poson Bathigee) spectacle.
The event was organized on the directions of the General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc. Troops belonging to 541, 542, 543 Infantry Brigades organized the Poson Zone.
Commander, Security Forces-Wanni, Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP participated in its ceremonial inauguration as the chief guest, together with the District Secretary for Mannar Mrs. A. Stanley de Mel. Invitees, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officer, Officers, and Other Ranks of the 54 Infantry Division also participated in the inauguration ceremony.
More than 4000 people of different faiths and cultures in the area witnessed the 54 Infantry Division's 'Poson' Zone and enjoyed the ‘Bath Dansela’, provided by the troops.
