54 Division HQ's 10th Anniversary Marked on 10th September

The 54 Division HQ in Mannar marked its 10th anniversary with several community-oriented programmes and military formalities on 10 September 2020 at the Divisional Headquarters. As the first project, troops conducted a 'Shramadana' campaign on 25 August at Mannar Hospital and cleaned up the hospital premises.

Afterwards, religious events followed at Thiruketiswaram Hindu Kovil, Jumma Mosque and St Sebastian's Church in Mannar in order to invoke religious blessings on the camp. In addition, 28 adults at Mannar Elders' Home and 30 children in Annai Illam children's home in Mannar were offered lunch on 01 September 2020.

A 'Pirith' chanting ceremony was conducted on 06 September, followed by an alms-giving the next morning for 15 Buddhist monks. On the same day, 04 new Buddha statues were placed in newly-constructed cottages around the pagoda in the 54 Division temple premises by the GOC 54 Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara.

The entirely refurbished entrance, TV Room, Entertainment corner and the newly-constructed kitchen complex of the WOs & the Sergeant Mess were then declared open by the GOC followed by an all rank dinner on 09 September 2020 in parallel with the 10th Anniversary programme

On the anniversary day (10), the GOC - 54 Division was awarded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour in keeping with military formalities. Commemorating of War Heroes at the Divisional monument took place around the same time. To mark the 10th Anniversary, the newly constructed replica of a lion at the main entrance was also unveiled by the GOC on the same day.

Similarly, the newly-renovated Privates' Mess was also opened by the GOC before All Ranks present there joined refreshments, together with all Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of under command Brigades and Battalions, all Officers and ORs at the Divisional HQ. Nike Sneakers Store | Nike Shoes
