53 More Soldiers Receive National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Certificates

The award of National Vocational Qualification - Level 3 (NVQ-Level 3) certificate to 53 Army soldiers who successfully completed the masonry (Construction Craftsmanship) course, jointly conducted by the Non Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) at Saliyawewa and Tokyo Cement Company took place on Thursday (5) during a ceremony at A.Y.S Gnanam Construction Training Centre at Dambulla.

The NVQ - 3, followed by 56 soldiers during the first half of this year (2016), formally recognizes the basic competence in the trade and serves as an endorsement of their prior learning before retirement from the Army in the future.

The ceremony saw Mr Ravi Dias, Director, Tokyo Cement Company, Mr Sunil P Liyanarachchi, Chairman, Sri Lanka National Construction Association, Mr Anura Dissanayake, NCOTS Commandant, Colonel M.R.K.W.V.B Pinnawala and NCOTS Commanding Office, Lieutenant Colonel D.R.N Hettiarachchi deliver those proficiency certificates to the trainees.

The course was conducted under three phases in consultation with Tokyo Cement Company Ltd.
