Major General M.T.I. Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 53 Infantry Division on 18 July 2024, amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 53 Division Headquarters.
Upon his arrival, he was greeted in a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the 5 Gemunu Watch troops. Incoming GOC then signed an official document amidst religious blessings, signifying his acceptance of new appointment. He then planted a sapling in the premises and posed for group photographs.
In line with military formalities, he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks, expressing his vision for the Division's future. Following this, he attended the All-Rank tea.
